Beyond Testing: A Community Conversation on Learning
This free and time-flexible event is being proposed for communities in crisis, to provide an opportunity for productive, non-confrontational , non-partisan conversations about both community and personal goals for education. A two hour block of time works best.
We start by having those present identify their own most significant learning experiences, then discuss the skills the group believes will make a difference for students to succeed in the future. Next we work on strategies for developing those skills and then build a larger set of goals and strategies for learning in the community. There is no formal take-away except that which individuals and groups who attend determine together to do. The goal is to encourage increased voice and understanding of education by all those impacted by education policy, and to help cultivate the ability to talk about education in thoughtful ways.
